We all know now that the Ukulele has exploded in popularity and the amount of videos hitting Youtube of people displaying their talents in phenomenal, There are many ways to learn how to play the Ukulele these days from private one to one lessons, taking classes, joining a Ukulele club or trying to teach yourself from books or Youtube videos.

Well I heard this version being played on the Ukulele by an Australian singer-songwriter by the name of Dan Kelly and I loved it. Have a listen, it is very cool, very chilled out version of this song and again making the Ukulele the king of instruments.

It is from and album called No Mans Woman and I ‘m sure if you want to learn to play Nothing Compare To You on the Ukulele you can find the chords on Beatniks Ukulele song book I talked about earlier which is quite amazing. For more info on Dan Kelly, visit hist Official Website. Enjoy.

You really do not need to be into Ukuleles, Eddie Vedder or Pearl Jam to appreciate just how good of a music album it really is, it is very universal (but of course not to everyone on the planets taste) but, if you do love the sound of the Ukulele, the power and beauty of Eddie Vedders voice, great song writing you will love his new album “Ukulele Songs” That was Released on May 31st. It is a collection of some original and some cover songs and it is well worth a place in your music collection.

The First song (see video below) “Can’t Keep” is a fast paced Ukulele playing song and it blows me away, it is amazing and taking from the Pearl Jam Album Riot Act. The following few tracks chill you out and haunt you big time. “Sleeping By Myself,” “Without You,” Goodbye,” and “Broken Heart” are power with a soft mood from Vedders cool voice.

When we reach “Satellite” it Livens up things leading us to track 8 and one of my favorite “Longing To Behold” (see video below) what a gorgeous track. With some added guest vocalists, Glen Hansard joins in on a great song “Sleepless Nights” and on the album there is also a cover of the classic Ukulele song “Tonight You Belong to me” made famous in one of my favorite movies The Jerk and sung by the great Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters.

The album Finishes with a cover of The Mamas and Papas tune “Dream a little Dream” and sung in typical Eddie Vedder style. To me I love this album and I believe if you are a lover of the Ukulele, A Pearl Jam Fan or love the voice of Eddie Vedder you will love this album. Go Here To buy the album at Amazon

It is very charming, tender, powerful and a well produced laid out gorgeous album. Of course it is not for everyone but I am very confidant it can be loved by all.

It took a couple of weeks to come from Amazon (which was unusual) but it was well worth the wait. I have now ordered the music DVD that accompanies the Album ‘Water on the Road’ (check out the trailer below, awesome) and I am very much looking forward to watching it and I am sure I will let you all know just how good it is.

As for when you view and listen to this album by Eddie Vedder, you will see why I highly Recommend it, it is perfect for laid back Sundays and basically just chilling to wonderful music. Enjoy. If you have this album I would love to here your views in the comment box below.

I have been attracted to her talent and also to her interest in of course the Ukulele.

I have come across some cool videos (below). She is a very talented lady I must say. She has been involved in theater as seen from her musical production The Onion Cellar.

A few years ago Amanda bought a $19 Ukulele to use as a gag while playing Radioheads Creep but this developed in to more of just a gag and Amanda fell in love with the Ukulele just like Eddie Vedder, and released her own downloadable Ukulele album entitled “Amanda Palmer Performs the Popular Hits of Radiohead on Her Magical Ukulele.”

Are you a brand new to the world of Ukulele playing? Have you just bought a Ukulele and do not know where to begin? Is there a music software that can help you? If so, you are not the only one and I was the same and clueless when I rushed out and joined the hoards of people jumping on the Ukulele playing train but the good news is, learning to play Ukulele is quite easy.

You can also pay for some one on one lessons which will drastically help your Ukulele playing and chord structure but the problem here is that one on one lessons turn out very expensive, but if you have the money I will gladly recommend this.

Everyone is now wanting to be a Ukulele player these days and there is a growing child interest in the instrument which is brilliant. The Ukulele is a fantastic instrument for any child to learn to play simply because it is pretty easy, has an amazing sound, quite small and fun and for parents it is one of the cheapest instrument you can buy.

If you trail through Youtube you can see plenty of videos now of children playing Ukuleles, some amazing and some just learning, check out Ukulele boy to be amazed, and this is because in the last few years the Ukulele has become the instrument to play with celebrities like Steve Martin, Kate Micucci, W.H.Macy and the amazing Pearl Jam Front man Eddie Vedder all exploring and promoting the Ukulele with amazing playing and albums.

Teaching A Child To Play

It is fantastic you have bought a Ukulele for your child and now want them to be taught or teach themselves to play it. This can be done a couple of ways.

1. YouTube. Use YouTubes tons of free teaching videos. The Only problem here is there would be no one to correct your child if they are doing something wrong, leading your kid to play badly from the start and never be corrected.

2. Lessons. You can pay for some private lessons. This would be the best option but the only problem here they can turn out very expensive depending on how long and how many lessons are required.

3. Use Music Teaching Software. This is a great option. There is a downloadable music software that is available that will do what both of the above can do but it will cost much less, be like a video game yet teaching and correcting at the same time making it fun and extremely interesting for the child.

Year 2010 seems to me to be the year of the Ukulele come back, and with the amount of celebrities taking up the interest in this wonderful instrument, the growth in its popularity has been phenomenal.

With the ever more exposure to great music from the likes of the legend Israel “IZ” KamakawiwoÊ»ole (RIP) and Jake Shimabukuro, Ukulele music is popping up all over the place from movies, TV programmes to TV adverts, and people are buying Ukuleles and trying to learn how to play (like myself).

First of all it is important to buy a good quality Ukulele and the best thing about this instrument is that it is not too expensive to buy, and picking up a decent one is easy.

Also, decide what type of Ukulele you would like as there are 4 main sizes to choose from. Soprano, Concert, Tenor and the Baritone, and differ in sound and size.

But the most important fact in Ukulele playing as you begin, is learning the correct way to play and thankfully there is an increasing amount of materiel and resources on the internet or in book shops to help guide you along.

It is important to learn how to tune your instrument, learn the basic chords and notes, learn to pluck your Ukulele not strum as you would a guitar. Some great news has been released especially for the world of Ukulele Players. Eddie Vedder from the huge and brilliant Seattle band Pearl Jam is to release his own solo album of Ukulele Songs and also a double live show DVD of some shows from 2008. This of course is very exciting news.

The Ukulele is growing so popular in recent years and when you see legends like Eddie Vedder releasing Albums for our wonderful instrument, this can only increase the exposure and interest in the Ukulele, happy days!

Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwoʻoles music highlighted the beauty of the Ukulele in the last few years where a number of top celebrities have been seen with Ukuleles in their hands. This has led to a phenomenal rise in people learning to play Ukuleles (hence this site) and it is growing in popularity day by day.

“Ukulele Songs” which is the name of the coming Album by Eddie is a 16 track album of originals and covers and is due to be eagerly released on May 31st so be prepared for something special. The DVD is called “Water On The Road” and was shot in Washington D.C.’s Warner Theater on August 16th and 17th 2008. Excitingly too is that Glen Hansard and the brilliant Cat Power are also to feature on this Album. Maybe in the near future Eddie will team up with Jake Shimabukuro and produce what could only be a rocking classic Ukulele album, fingers crossed!
